Introduction: Members-Question of the Month: Marissa Earls – What is one thing you are grateful for today?

Attendance: 43 people attended

Breakfast Bonus: Breakfast Sponsor (3 minutes) Northwest Bank-Reed Levitz: Northwest is expanding in the community. They are doing a reconstruction of the Yorktown branch. They have been in the community for over 100 years. They continue to sponsor and support the community.

Presentation of last month’s Minutes: Erin Ailstock – approved as submitted

Treasurer Report: Brenda Olsen and Kim Evans: Balance end of April with $76,353.67 total. Earmarked funds: $10K – scholarship, 50K – Summer concerts, waiting on $12k in sponsor dollars.

School Report: Dr. Greg Hinshaw – Yorktown Community Schools is rated #22 in the state of Indiana. Gave an update on Spring sports, student transfers, and funding. The school’s Foundation is looking for sponsorships for the 4 for the Fourth race.

Town Report: Chase Bruton – Gave an update on the road projects, trail project, summer events, and the basketball court at Morrow’s Meadow.

Program: How Community Foundation Supports Yorktown presented by Carol Kosisko & Molly Harty – Explained the Yorktown town Endowment, it was started in 2000 and currently has over 65 unique donors. The funds go towards what the board feels will best benefit the town of Yorktown. They passed out information on the funds that they have approved for the Yorktown Community. They have $300,000 in Scholarship’s dollars and $38,000-$40,000 goes to Yorktown students. Since 1998-$963,000 has been awarded to Yorktown Students from the Lily Foundation. They work with the teachers via Bell Grants.

Carol gave an update on the 2-Yorktown Chamber Scholarships. They received 8 applications that the committee are reviewing. 2 students will receive a $1,000 scholarship each.

President’s Report: Kat Blankenbaker – Kat let membership know that the Executive Committee met on Friday, May 16th to work on a strategic plan and that it was successful. There will be more information sent out to membership regarding the strategic plan.

Lunch and Learns & Shafer News: Ted Ward – Lunch N Learn options – Shafer upcoming training. The next Lunch and Learn will be June 26th with the topic being Collaboration. Stay tuned for more information on reservations.

Ambassador News: Lena Reid (Marissa gave an update in Lena’s absence) – Deadline for vendors for the Picnic on the Green is May 26th. They currently have 40 vendors signed up. The next Member Lunch is June 12th at 11:30 sponsored by Silverbirch. You do need to make a reservation to attend the member lunch.

Membership news: Marissa Earls – 135 current members, 23 new members this year so far.

Civic Green Report: Kat B – First concert will be on Friday, May 30th. Music starting at 8:30pm to not bother graduation.

2 minute Tip of the day: Mark Goodpaster – 3 ways to utilize toothpaste that doesn’t include brushing your teeth.
