Not everyone has a name that could refer to at least 10 people in history, to an Alaskan highway, or being portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the movie Road House. That is unless your name is James Dalton, Damage Control Freak for Damage Doctors. As director of customer relations for Damage Doctors, James works with insurance companies and adjusters and anyone experiencing damage to their residential or commercial structures as a result of fire, water, weather, etc., in Muncie and the surrounding counties. “I love Delaware County,” exclaims James.

Damage Doctors are commercial mitigation specialists and full service fire and water restoration professionals for property and content damage inside and out. James emphasizes that “ALL of our employees and owners submit to an Annual background screening.” Damage Doctors is one of only three restoration companies in Indiana that offer the Priority Response Emergency Program (PREP) to commercial businesses. “Damage Doctors is in the business of reversing damage done by unexpected disasters. When our team of damage experts finishes work on your home or business, damage is a distant memory. Put simply, we make damage disappear,” said James.

“I have been a huge fan of Damage Doctors for years and unfortunately, became a client last summer when I discovered my basement full of water after a big rain,” he added.

“I have always enjoyed helping my customers solve problems, improve their business and save money for years,” James explained. “That’s why this gig is so perfect for me!”

His experience includes sales, marketing and customer service stints at Eli Lilly and Co., Indiana University-Purdue University, and USA Group, Inc., to name a few. He also was owner of INK Solutions of Muncie for eight years.

Father of three and grandfather of two, he has been married to Diane for 24 years. One son is a drone pilot, another son is a student at Butler, and his daughter is a client services professional. Rounding out the family are two Maltipoo brothers, Starsky and Hutch. He is an Indiana State University graduate.

His activities include “hackin’” up the golf course, writing silly poetry, and “showing off,” he says. A Colts fan, he likes Butler basketball and country music. James also admits to getting lost once while on a sales call in Dunkirk, IN.

“To Me, Yorktown is the epitome of Home Town America,” says the past president of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce. James cares about the environment and is involved in Muncie-Delaware Clean & Beautiful, where he has been a board member for more than six years and has been involved with its White River Clean Up since 2008.

James is a volunteer, donor and storyteller for Secret Families and education coordinator for Business Network International.

His personal philosophy is to lift people up every day, and his advice to a younger you is to join the chamber. Support your community and never underestimate the value of your relationships. James is re-reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
