SECRETARY REPORT:  Minutes approved as presented.

 

TREASURER REPORT:  Financial reports for June and July were approved as presented.

TOWN UPDATE –   Council meeting was last night.  Recent topics include water bond, new gateway sign, façade grants, and new stop lights at 500W/SR332

 

PARK BOARD UPDATE – Bob Drummond gave an update on the 3 Yorktown parks.  Discussion includes mission, objectives, and updates on projects.

 

LUMINARY FESTIVAL UPDATE – Saturday, Dec 13, noon-7p – Chair Barb Baker reporting that the festival was awarded a large grant that has been used to purchase large lighted displays for the park.  Vendors will be setup in the YMS gym, all the same features as recent years will return – next planning meeting in on Sept 16 at Historical Museum at 6:30 pm.

 

SCHOOL UPDATE – Jennifer McCormick introduced Kyle Hall as new athletic director, Stacey Brewer is new assistant principal at YHS, downtown banners are up and looking great, new business manager hired, transportation issues exist in large part because of the number of transfer students, master contract is settled, school board meeting is tonight, Mr. Hall gave additional updates specific to athletics, including a makeover to the YHS gym with new paint and flooring and yorktownathletics.com is now live.

 

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS/ANNOUNCEMENTS –  Sept 26 is homecoming game, Sept 27 is homecoming parade, Sept 13 at noon at the Yorktown cemetery will be a special commemoration.  New Life Presbyterian is hosting a public party on Sept 6 from 1-5.  Hillcroft is selling ice cream cards for $10.
