TOWN REPORT: Water well project on line with increased coverage. RFPs for the next phase of the Canal Project are being sent out. The Fourth of July planning still in progress related to games and other proposed events.

PROGRAM:  Victoria Veach, Executive Director of Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, and Cheryl Crowder, Event Director, presented a video about the active changes in the city of Muncie. The video focused on the future of Muncie and the progress that has been made in the downtown area. The downtown area has evolved from being 90 percent vacant to 90 percent occupied, with resident population being increased by 60 percent. One-thousand seventy-six people live in the downtown area, with 258 businesses and 2,658 employees working in the downtown area on a daily basis. Events in Muncie include the Muncie Gras which attracts 9-10 thousand people, Ball State University Parent Orientation, Moonlight Movies, Arts Walk, Art Reels, Foodie Fridays and Light-Up Downtown. Muncie Downtown Development Partnership assists and partners with other organizations throughout the county, as well. The New façade grant program has been very successful with the next project to be the Sears Building. The Courtyard Marriott is a welcome addition to the downtown area, partnering with ARC of Indiana to provide training for people with disabilities.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS: Minnetrista sponsoring a new juried art show and is currently hosting a bicycle exhibit.
