BREAKFAST SPONSOR:          Reach Yorktown Ministries – Mary Ann Stroeh provided information about the ministry and its programs, including the summer program, Kids in the Meadow.

 

SECRETARY REPORT:             Approved as submitted.

 

TREASURER REPORT:             Ed Armantrout – Approved as submitted.

 

SCHOOL REPORT:                   Greg Hinshaw – Third grade I-Step completed with 91% passing the  requirements (State average is 90%); Expansion at Pleasant View Elementary approved and will be completed in the summer of 2019; Reviewing new transportation area for busses.

 

TOWN REPORT:                     Pete Olson – May 12, Car Show, Arts Council will again have Movies in the Meadow; May 19 – Garage Sale at Morrows Meadow. Bridge repair will be re-bid in May.

 

BRE REPORT:                          Upcoming Lunch and Learn – April 26, 2018 – Mr. Mouse meeting room – 11:30 a.m. – Mitch Isaacs – Shafer Leadership Academy will be the speaker.

 

PROGRAM:                             Atlas Collections – Al Holdren – Holdren presented information about the growing bad debt problem due to skyrocketing healthcare costs. Benefits are gradually shifting the burden from the payers to the patient, therefore many people are struggling to meet their healthcare financial obligations. Atlas Collections assists health care providers in collecting bad debt by enabling them to recover most of their money through programs that assist both the individual and the provider.

 

MISCELLANEOUS CHAMBER NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS:            Post Office Food Drive – May 12 to benefit Reach Yorktown Ministries; Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner – April 20. 4-7 p.m. – Yorktown Methodist Church; Yorktown grant applications due April 30; Yorktown American Legion – Flag Retirement Ceremony – June 16, 1 p.m.; America’s Hometown Band will perform on April 29  at Emens Auditorium – 4 p.m.

 

TIP OF THE MONTH:  Mark Goodpaster – presented several helpful household hints.
