Pat L. Smith, 10-year owner of build, LLC, is the only independent window and door supplier in Indiana. With a total of 26 years in the building materials industry, Pat went into business for herself to offer a wider selection of products, including interior doors and cabinetry for her clients. Prior to opening her business, she sold windows, doors and cabinetry for other companies for 16 years. Experience and selection, she believes, set her apart from her competition. She offers windows and doors by Pella, Marvin, Andersen, Jeld-wen, Windsor, and more.

A true entrepreneur, Pat founded the SelectionZONE™, a reinvention of the building and renovating experience, based on the concept that building and renovating are to be FUN! She is also founder of the Sports Collection of Windows and Doors designed exclusively to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and their mission to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Pat’s son, Eric, was diagnosed with Type 1 at age 23.

Don’t complain about the problem unless you are willing to be a part of the solution is Pat’s philosophy, which helps explain her interest in politics. She was a staunch supporter of having her neighborhood annexed into Yorktown and of the consolidation with Mt. Pleasant Township.

Her interests include historic restoration and deconstruction as an alternative to demolition. She has supplied windows and doors for downtown historic façade programs for Muncie, New Castle and Winchester. Other activities and certifications include Indiana and City of Indianapolis Certified Women Business Enterprise, National Association of Home Builders, Indiana Builders Association, East Central Indiana Builders Association, INSustainability Alliance, National Trust for Historic Preservation and Women in Business Unlimited. She is serving on the newly formed BY5 Little Free Library task force for Muncie.

Pat has helped build Habitat for Humanity homes (picture shown is Pat when she donated 20 hard hats for New Castle Raintree Habitat’s first “women build”. The guys, she said, didn’t mind that they were PINK!)

She just finished reading “Go for NO” and is willing to share the book with other chamber members to start a lending traveling library of sales and business information.

Pat enjoys cardio boxing and bicycling. She and her husband of 43 years, Jerry, have one son, Eric, a 1999 YHS graduate.
